| Goal 1. | Provide outstanding academic programs that further strengthen our performance and pre-eminence in the five thematic areas. |

We will measure our success in creating outstanding academic programs by how we are ranked by others, our ability to attract diverse, high quality faculty and students, our ability to attract external funds, our research impact and creative outputs, and the impact we have on society. As such, our metrics for Goal 1 will include:

Improve the teaching and learning environment and achieve student persistence and success through graduation and beyond that matches the best land grant universities in the country.

We will measure our success in improving the teaching and learning environment by the characteristics of learning opportunities; the support students receive; and student persistence, satisfaction, and success in graduating and finding employment. As such, our metrics for Goal 2 will include:

| Goal 3. | Substantially increase revenues from private fundraising, partnerships, research grants, and technology transfers while strengthening our ability to more effectively invest and allocate resources. |
