ACCESS / LOGIN

Is it free to access?

Yes.  All current students have a Beaver JobNet account automatically, available using your onid username and password.  It is also free to alumni, who can set up access by contacting Career Services at 541-737-0523

How long do we have access?

Access remains available even after you graduate.  The only change is your log in once your onid account has expired.  At that time you can contact Career Services at 541-737--0523 to get a new username and password if your information is still in Beaver JobNet, or establish a new account if needed.

How do I log in?

Quick Reference for Logging in to Beaver JobNet

You must be a current OSU student or alumni to have personal access to Beaver JobNet.

Use Mozilla Firefox web browser (preferred)

Go to the Career Services website: http://oregonstate.edu/career

• Click on: Student Log In on the right side of the page

• Enter your ONID Username and ONID Password

I’m an alumnus and my ONID has expired.  How do I login?

 Fill out this form to receive a new username and password. Contact Career Services at 541-737-0523 for additional assistance.

I’ve forgotten my password, how can I retrieve it?

If you are a current OSU student, your Beaver JobNet password is your ONID password.  The following information will assist you in changing / retrieving your ONID password:

     How To Reset/Change Your ONID Password
           If you know your current password:

  1. Go to http://onid.oregonstate.edu/
  2. Click "Login To ONID" in the left hand column.
  3. Login with your current ONID credentials.
  4. Click "Change Password" in the left hand column.
  5. Follow the steps to changing your password.
    NOTE: This Method will still work if your ONID password has expired 

If you do not know your username or password:

  1. Click here to change a forgotten password
  2. Enter your OSU ID?, birth date, and first and last name into the fields provided.
  3. Follow the steps to changing your password.  If you do not know your username, it will appear above the password fields. (i.e. "Setting password for _________")

                   Alumni should go to the log in page and select the “need or forgot password” tab.

APPLYING FOR AN INTERVIEW (On-Campus Recruiting – Employer Interview)

How do I apply for an interview in BJN?

You can either click on “Search jobs & Internships”  or if you know the specific Employers “Search Employers”.  When you find the position you are qualified for, there will be an “Apply” button, click on this and follow steps.

Why am I not able to apply for the position?

This means that something within your academic profile does not match up with what the company has requested for this position. Please compare with what you have submitted.

Where do I go to view my applications?

Click on the tab “Employment”, then click on the tab “Applications”. To view the interviews you have upcoming, you can click on “Interviews”.

APPOINTMENTS

I’d like to make an appointment with a counselor. How would I do that?

Log in to your Beaver JobNet account and click on “Request a Counseling Appointment” from the list of Shortcuts on the right side of your home page.

  1. Choose an appointment type: then check any or all counselor boxes
  2. Click on a day in the calendar and select the best time that works for you
  3. Add any notes you wish to tell the counselor
  4. Click “Submit” to send your request.  You will be notified by email when your appointment is approved.

EMAILS

How can I remove myself or “unsubscribe” from receiving e-mails?

This email has been sent to you from OSU Career Services because your privacy settings in your Beaver JobNet account show that you wish to receive career related information.  If you no longer wish to receive emails you can log in to your account, go to your “Profile”, click on the “Privacy” tab and change your preferences.  Please note: This will include emails from employers regarding interviews.  If you have questions or concerns please contact us at 541-737--523 or career.services@oregonstate.edu

What is a job blast?

Job Blasts are regularly scheduled emails that send search results to specific students about new job or internship opportunities.  They are set to send only results where the employer has asked for your major, and are set not to include jobs asking for “all majors”.  If you no longer wish to receive job blast emails you can log in to your account, go to your “Profile”, click on the “Privacy” tab and change your preferences.    If you have questions or concerns please contact us at 541-737-0520 or career.services@oregonstate.edu

GPA

Can I use my OSU GPA instead of the overall GPA on Beaver JobNet?

Beaver JobNet uses your overall GPA, which is in line with what employers want to see.  Some employers have contact information on the job posting, and you can contact them directly with any additional information you would like them to consider.

How do I set up a search agent?

I’ve looked on Beaver JobNet for a student job, but there are all these jobs that don’t apply to me.  How can I find just a part time job on campus?

Student jobs are available on Beaver JobNet for all students, including those who have received a work study award in their financial aid package.

  1. Log in to your Beaver JobNet account
  2. Click on “Student On & Off Campus Jobs (Not Workstudy)” from the list of Shortcuts on the right side of your home page.
  3. Click on the job title, or the “Apply” button to see more information about the job, and to apply by the means specified by the employer in the job announcement.
  4. If you wish to refine your search results more, you can create your own search and put in the criteria you want.  You can also contact Career Services at 541-737-0520 for assistance

How can I find a work study job?

Work Study jobs are available on Beaver JobNet for students who have received the award in their financial aid package.

  1. Log in to your Beaver JobNet account
  2. Click on “Federal Work Study Jobs” from the list of Shortcuts on the right side of your home page.
  3. Click on the job title, or the “Apply” button to see more information about the job, and to apply by the means specified by the employer in the job announcement.

UPLOAD DOCUMENTS / UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS

Can I upload my resume, if yes, how?

Once you have created and finalized your resume, you can upload it to your Beaver JobNet account in either MS Word or pdf format.

  1. In your Beaver JobNet account, click on “Your Documents” on your menu bar
  2. Click on the “Add New” button
  3. Enter the name of the document, and check that the “Resume” radio button is selected
  4. Enter the location where the document is saved and click “Submit”. 
  5. If you wish to make your resume available for employers to see when they are searching for candidates for open job or internship opportunities, you can publish it to various resume books.
  6. Click on the tab next to “Documents” that says “Publish resume to make it available to employers (Opt-In)
  7. Under “Options” at the end of the line where your resume is listed, click on “Select Resume Books”
  8. Next to “Document Type” select the “resume” radio button.
  9. Next to “Target Opt-In Resume Book” use the drop down to select which book or books in which you wish to have your resume available to approved employers in Beaver JobNet.  (Hold the CTRL key to select multiple books)

How do I upload an unofficial transcript?

How to upload an Unofficial Transcript to Beaver JobNet

  1. Log into your “Online Services Quick Login” with your ONID username and password
  2. Click on “ Student Records”
  3. Click on “View Unofficial Academic Transcript
  4. Transcript level needs to be selected as “all levels” & Transcript type should be “www unofficial” – click Submit
  5. Starting from the large font “ Oregon State University Transcript” to small font “Unofficial Transcript” Copy and Paste the entire section into a WORD document
  6. “Save file as WORD DOCUMENT or PDF”
  7. Log into OSU Career Services Beaver JobNet webpage with your ONID username and password : https://oregonstate-csm.symplicity.com/students/index.php
  8. Click on “Your Documents”
  9. Click on “ + Add new”
  10. Fill out the “Student Document Section”
  11. Click on “Browse File” and select your unofficial transcript WORD/PDF  document
  12. The file should be uploaded and if your document is in a WORD Document, it will automatically be converted into a PDF file as well*

Notice*: If your document is over the 200 KB size limit, this is how to go about compressing the file:

  1. Launch Adobe Acrobat (6.0 or later)
  2. Click the menu "File > Open"  and browse your computer and open a PDF
  3. Click the menu "File > Reduce File Size"
  4. Select a compatibility option (for example "Acrobat 7.0 and later") using a drop-down list box and click "OK"
  5. Type a new filename in the window "Save As" and click "Save"
